NOW It could be argued that I focused my energy a few weeks back in the wrong direction. I'll go another way with this post.

OH MY MY I feel incredibly fortunate to wake up each day and share my 35+ year passion for gaming with the world. From having an online platform to share my opinions to being able to hunt down items from gaming's past to speaking at live events of all types and sizes... I'm living a dream from my childhood each and every day.

Reply - Nobody cares about what you claim that does not check out from the time you were 6, let alone in your teens anyone with common sense knows you did not pick up a controller till 2005 and you poor gaming scores speak volumes. The biggest room you ever spoke in was at E3 and never have you had more than 100 people watch your panels and they were there for real name NOT you!!!!!!!
 
LOOK As with everyone, my path was influenced by a great many others. Therefore, I'd like to shout out to a lot of them right now, as I lived vicariously through their work when I was younger... and can look back now and credit them directly for influencing what I do now.

PEA Names like Rawson Stovall (pictured below as a guest on The Tonight Show), gaming's first-ever syndicated video game columnist.
Names like Bill Kunkel, Arnie Katz and Joyce Worley for being the first to see video games as worth talking about.

NICHE Names like Jeff Peters, Donn Nauert and the late 80s version of the U.S. National Video Game Team that started Electronic Gaming Monthly and even saw a Seal of Approval on various games and products for the Nintendo Entertainment System, SEGA Master System and others. Donn's Atari commercials in particular made an immediate impact on me and what "could be."
Names like Andy Eddy, who showed me that sharing an honest opinion on video game items was sometimes going to piss people off... and that's perfectly okay :p
Names like Howard Phillips, who proved that a person could be a "video game advocate" way before most others, and that doing so required a true love and passion for what they did.


 Reply - you never mentioned these names till recent years and they don't know who you are despite you STEALING USNVGT claiming it as yours being banned from Wiki for fraud and sabotage on the pages!!!

SMALL/BIG Names such as Eric Ginner, Thor Aackerlund, Ben Gold and Todd Rogers who proved that video game players could be taken seriously in the mainstream media.
Names such as Craig Kubey, who wrote the first book on video games that I can say both sparked my love for the "behind the scenes" stuff in the industry but also that you could be a bit snarky when writing about video games and that's perfectly okay.
Names, of course, such as Ralph Baer, Nolan Bushnell, David Crane, Trip Hawkins and countless others for creating the very things that led all of us to this point.
Names like Walter Day who - despite our professional differences of opinion - was perhaps the first to show how video gaming can draw people from all walks of life together.
Names like Warren Davis, Jeff Lee and Alan McNeil, all of who reached out to ME in 1999 rather than the other way around, showing me that the creators of legendary games appreciated what I was trying to do as much as I appreciated what they did for us.

Reply - You bashed Todd on many occasions and now you wanna boot lick him, Thor claimed you were never at any Nintendo Championship nor does it check out that you were and to this day you ignore and do nothing to prove or fact it, because it NEVER happened, Ben Gold is a ONE hit wonder and wants open boarders all over the world except Israel. Todd Rogers SO far is the ONLY big name mentioned in your pity post and a bunch of BIG name inventors and creators that YOU NEVER met nor knew you existed. Warren Davis, Jeff Lee, and Alan McNeil did so NOT reach out to you in 1999 and you so did not have an email account in 1999 we checked LIAR.

For the record nobody you just mentioned knows who you are except people you bootlick, you didn't try to do anything in 1999 except roll on mats in crotches of men's tights and you have nothing that CHECK'S out about you on the Internet till 2004-05
  
Names like David Eddings, Abbie Heppe, Blair Herter, Chris Flynn, Andrea Jarvis and so many others already occupying the space I aimed to be part of for not only their support in the past but for teaching me more about it than they probably all realize.

and AND And to so many of you who've joined along in my wild ride over here and stuck around through the evolution and ups and downs of it all. At the risk of forgetting someone, people like Tim McVey, Rachel Lara, Catherine DeSpira, Eric Cummings, Eric Akeson, Catherine Vice, Becky Taylor, Alexis Garriott, Reed S Albers, Chris Wiseman, Chris Tang, Martin Alessi, Richard J Cook, Meredith Placko, BC Phillips, Alec Featherstone, Rob McCallum, Lonnie McDonald, Gary and Mary Bubb and so many others... not to mention my old brotherhood such as Nite Davis, Adam Roeber, David Fuller, Kit Carson and Khris Germany for helping me realize that opportunities come if you work at it hard enough.

Reply - Tim the man who condones underage sexual intercourse and played ONE GAME that nobody ever heard of, Rachel a woman you been chasing since she was under 18 calling her your best friend and partner in crime while you are married, Cat the 2nd biggest fraud liar like yourself in gaming, Eric Cummings who lives off ACA and gov't like you do and handout's, nobody heard of Vice, Eric another nobody who makes beer, others not worth quoting and Lonnie Mcdonald a ONE game wonder, rich man offering chump change to buy Twin galaxies to run it into the ground more than you did.
 
AND And of course, my own family, who "gets" it as much as anyone, and has never wavered in supporting this constant, surreal and atypical adventure, even when it has all taken up countless weekends and delayed certain things at times.
Again, sorry for all the tags and also sorry for anyone I may have left out.... just feelin' the love today and just want people to know that they've influenced and helped me in ways they may not even realize on a day where I happened to notice how fortunate I am do to something I love to do every single day.

 There are those who'll try to justify their obsessive efforts to make me look bad on the claim that I "carry a grudge" with Walter Day.

Nothing could be further from the truth.
First of all, I don't carry grudges. My school of thought on that is that "carry" is a verb... an intentional action, something that requires effort. Sure, there are people on this planet that I don't exactly care for... and it's my intent to give those people NO effort from me. I'd rather spend my time on those I love, like, respect and/or admire, and those that don't fit that description get nothing unless necessary.

Reply - it checks out you call and write nasty emails which will go public at some point to Walters and others because 17 other people got money while working for TG and AFTER but you didn't get a dime so you cried and called and insulted others, tampered with the database and even held the tapes hostage as the LAW got involved both with pete and post pete, you were close to JAIL and that is a FACT CHECK IT OUT FACT!!!! You put more effort into Bill and Rudy and other's than you put into your own Wife!!!!!
You wanted money you didn't get it, deserve it or work for it, and you didn't get it because you udo what you do now whine, you make BIGGER posts on Facebook and Social media as a nobody than ALL names combined.
 
My "issues" with Walter simply come down to disagreements over a great many things, and I'm not certain they are the types of disagreements that can be reconciled, sadly. They run too deep.
For example: The history he proclaims doesn't check out in due diligence. He claims to be the first to track high scores, yet I have found dozens of articles from 1979-1981 (prior to his efforts) that cover "world record" high scores on games from Space Invaders to Asteroids to Missile Command. In fact, it was clear that Atari was keeping track of records on this games before Walter did any such thing.
He also claims that all the companies began to refer to him in early 1982, which also doesn't check out... as I have found no less than ten incidents where companies such as Bally Midway and Williams Electronics recognized "world champions" on their own in 1982-1984, well after they allegedly referred people to him.

In fact, there are probably close to a dozen things he takes/accepts credit for being "the first" to do in the early 1980s that research proves is not the case.
I do not believe ill intent on his part, but rather I believe he honestly thought he was the first to do many things in those way-before-the-Internet days that made it easier to connect to the whole world. Problem is, when presented with these historical differences of opinion, he continues to push the incorrect historical narrative. This does damage to the efforts of many of us for full and truthful video game history to be recorded.

I think a lot of it is due to the fact that some gamers ride him like a backpack, influencing his train of thought for their own direct benefits. Walter allows it to happen, too, which is another point of contention between us. He doesn't promote the historically accurate account of the "original champions" so much as he promotes those who "stayed around him" and "continued to support him" or - in many cases - have subsidized him for years.

I greatly admire Walter for what he did back in the day, I only wish he'd allow it to be put into a historically accurate perspective backed by proper research. I feel he's simply too close to it to be objective and too deeply influenced by the people he allows to have his ear to ever do so. You can read his 1998 book and see a great many differences there from how he promotes things now. His 1998 book was far more complete and pretty accurate by comparison.

NOW I greatly value the times we worked together, especially at E3 2009 and E3 2012, where I'll note those who ride his coattails were absent for long stretches or not there at all.

Historical accuracy is EVERYTHING to anyone who works within various media. If a baseball historian finds information that proves that Babe Ruth wasn't the first player to do whatever, it doesn't mean they dislike Babe Ruth. In gaming, Nolan Bushnell is a hero of mine but I'm quick to correct people when he's given credit for things he didn't do alone or at all.

 Certainly not personal. It wasn't person when I countered the claims that Todd Rogers holds/held the "longest standing video game record" either... it was just an effort to give credit to the people (plural) who are noted in that same database as holding records for longer than the one he was being credited for.

Reply - it was a personal agenda and regardless how you claim or see it all that matters is who it effects 
 
So refer anyone who claims I have a beef with Walter to this post. I don't expect them to even try to understand, but maybe those they try to convince will see the other side of the coin. I greatly admire what he did back in the day, my only hope is that it can and will someday be seen in it's proper historical perspective rather than the historically incorrect version that is widely believed today... and until he wants to understand that and work to make THAT happen... there'll be a professional - not personal - rift between us.
